With just a few days until the next year starts, I decided to put together a post of a 2019 Retrospective. Below is the best of 2019.

Lakes Trip

Lakes Trip: The Photos
I have finally finished editing the photos for the Lakes Trip. Well, almost. I thought I had finished editing the photos, but then, when I opened up the night sky photos on my iPad, I was slightly disappointed with the excessive amount of stars that can be seen. It has basically lost the beautiful shape […]

Lakes Trip: Day 3
Today was a very awkward day. We got up, the boys came to pick me up, we checked out and went for breakfast. We had a reasonable breakfast, nothing too fancy, and hit the road towards Ballarat, where we would have lunch with a friend of ours. We were aiming to get to Ballarat for […]

Lakes Trip: Day 2
The way things are going, I’m just going to post half-way through the day, don’t think it will make much of a difference. The morning was great and on the way to Dimboola to take photos of the Pink Lake there, we stopped by the Green Lake that’s about 8km from Sea Lake. Nothing really […]

Lakes Trip: Day 1
Sea Lake is VERY far away from Melbourne. It took us nearly 5 hours to get here (counting 1 stop for a half arse early lunch). But we made most of it. We talked a lot in the 4 hours that we drove. Then we also went to the lake a took some photos. The […]
Lake Tyrell trip
So my partner and I had agreed to do this trip together, see the different lakes around the state of Victoria. The only problem is that he forgot to put leave in to do it, because he works in a retail store (even though HE himself doesn’t sell anything) he is rostered on a weekly/fortnightly […]
Pink Lakes
Lake Tyrrell is a pink salt water lake in North-Western Victoria. The stillness of the water makes it a mirror, and during sunset it provides with the most stunning colors over the water. I want to photograph it. The lake is located about 4 hours from Melbourne, in the city of Sea Lake. Almost on […]
Daylesford

Daylesford Trip: The Photos
I have, mostly, finished editing the photos. Some of them did not come out great when I printed, and so I will have to work on them further. The others are great. Below is a bit of the photos that I have selected from all the ones that made it. The three photos I have […]

Daylesford: Day 3
Last night we ate at a very āsafeā restaurant. The food was good, but they only made really easy to please/safe cuts of meat type of meals. As an example: I had an eye fillet with potatoes, asparagus on its jus and Dean had a sweet massaman type curry. All too safe. The wine was […]

Daylesford: Day 2
Day 2 of the trip started well. Had a great filtered coffee (batch brew) and breakfast at Larder. Beautiful Ethiopian beans and great take on Eggs Benedict (with peas, bacon AND pork and a hash brown). I would definitely come here again. Maybe not on this trip, as it would be interesting to get to […]

Daylesford: Day 1
I have to say, Daylesford is beautiful. Today we went to Wombat Hill Gardens (with brunch) and then to the Daylesford Lake. Brunch was good, I had a BLAT (BLT + Avocado on bagel with a fried egg). To accompany, an expresso martini. The lake was beautiful and we had lunch on deck… where I […]
Dusk in Yarraville

Dusk in Yarraville
Yesterday, Dean and I went to Yarraville to look at a house (weāre looking to buy). On the way back home, we took a detour to pick up his bike. I dropped him off where he left his bike (long story) and started driving back. The GPS was a bit confused as to which direction […]
52 Weeks of Chickens
In 2019 I spent half of the weekends of the year taking photos of my beautiful chickens Sophia and Victoria. Their lives were taken too soo by a hungry fox and my 52 weeks of chickens became only 21. In their memory, I share with you all 21 weeks.

A pause in the 52 weeks of chickens
I woke up at 2:30am with horrible noises coming from the chicken coop. I jumped out of bed and ran to the chicken run only to find a fox running away and both the chickens dead. (not going to get into the graphical details here) I did not have a good sleep after that and […]

Chickens (Week 21 of 52)
This week the girls were all over the place. Having said that, it’s mostly Sophia in the photos, Victoria was a bit camera shy. Anyway, here are the photos of Sophia and Victoria.

Chickens (Week 20 of 52)
The weekend was a bit all over the place, but I was able to take the photos of the girls. Now I went to a wedding last night in Daylesford and didn’t take my camera as I thought we would drive back last night after the wedding. But we started to drink and felt that […]

Chickens (Week 19 of 52)
The Victoria has been very naughty, she’s been eating the cat’s food and wanting to hog the food all to herself.

Chickens (Week 18 of 52)
They were pooping on the concrete a lot, so I have reduced the time they are out and about. When they are not loosie goosie, it makes it difficult to get spontaneous interesting interaction.

Chickens (Week 17 of 52)
Not much has happened this week in regards to photographing the chickens. We had a busy weekend, so we didn’t have time to elaborate too much on Sophia and Victoria.

Chickens (Weeks 14, 15 and 16 of 52)
Week 14 In Week 14, I don’t know why, I only got one (decent) photo of the girls. Not coincidentally, that week I also took photos in one of the days, not both. Since it’s been a while, I wouldn’t be able to tell you why. Week 15 It was warm outside that weekend. I […]

Chickens (Week 13 of 52)
This week we get to 25% of the project. It is a big achievement. We’ve seen the girls through winter and now that Spring is coming along, they will be more active. Other things await them in the coming months: new home. Dean and I bought a (town)house off the plan and the expected settlement […]

Chickens (Week 12 of 52)
Another week and this time Victoria is our main subject. I’ve decided to take a portrait of her on one foot, macro of her feathers, and THREE eggs between the two chickens (one of them laid an extra one overnight!). For the Macro photos (feathers and eggs), I used my Sigma 105mm. For the other […]

Chickens (Week 11 of 52)
Another week and I would like to say the girls are more active… but they are not. They find themselves little nooks in the shade, have a dirt bath and just chill.

Chickens (Week 10 of 52)
Chickens are now having a lot of fun out in the sun. Even though there still are 22 days until the Spring Equinox, the girls are starting to feel it. Here they are frolicking around this weekend.

Chickens (Week 9 of 52)
The girls are starting to come out to do their dirt baths in the shade. I think they are starting to feel that spring is just around the corner. Victoria loves stretching in the sun.

Chicken (Week 8 of 52)
Since the weekend of 10-11/08 I was in Falls Creek, I was not able to take photos of Sophia and Victoria. So I made last weekend the Week 8 of the photos with ‘the girls’. Here are the result.

Chickens (Week 7 of 52)
Iāve been trying not to be too repetitive with the photos of the girls. As a result, you will see the āBiker Chickā photo (Sophia). That photo triggered Dean (my partner) to post it on Facebook with the following caption: āThis is what happens when I leave Bernardo on his own…ā. I found it hilarious. […]

Chickens (Week 6 of 52) – Saying goodbye to Albert
Albert came as a timid, hurt rooster to our chicken run. We took care of him and as we started becoming more comfortable around us, he also started causing trouble. He started crowing and with that, bothering the neighbors. Dean managed to reduce his crowing by putting a colar on him. A few weeks ago, […]

Chickens (Week 5 of 52)
Other than the chickens running away, nothing really happened this past week. Albert is scaring the chickens out of the chicken run, they are flying over the fence. One night we left the gates opened and found them at a neighbor’s house. Albert has become a nuisance. His crowing bothers the neighbors, he’s scaring the […]

Chickens (Week 4 of 52)
This week is all about Victoria. She’s been more present, specially with Albert running horny after her non-stop. She has been fleeing from him like “the devil from the cross” (as goes the Brazilian saying). Here are the photos of Victoria and Sophia for this week.

Chickens (Week 3 of 52)
Albert has started growing acustomed to us being around and now doesn’t even run. Today he allowed me to touch him without chasing him OR offering a worm. He would’ve probably run if I had made any gesture that resembled that I was going to try to pick him up. Here are this week(end)’s photos.

Chickens (Week 2)
During this week, something unexpected happened: I came home to a rooster in the chicken run. Nana’s boyfriend’s dog had attacked a rooster in his yard and they didn’t know what to do with it. So Nana decided to add it to our collection, in hopes to see little chicks in spring. We have taken […]

Chickens (Weekend 1) – Part 2
So I took the second photo of the chickens this weekend. I managed to get both chickens together in a single shot. From now on, I will post the photos only on Sundays (or Mondays), but the two photos at the same time.

Chickens (Weekend 1)
In various degrees, I will take photos of the chickens every weekend. This is part of me creating a body of work that can help me improve my photographic talents. The “In various degrees” aspect of the statement above is that I may not be home every weekend to take photos of them. For example, […]
